Sunday,
June 21
– Cleats defeated the Jamestown Redbirds in interleague action by a score of 3
to 1. Cleats was led by the pitching effort
of Josh Lawrence who went the distance giving up 1 run on 6 hits while striking
out 5. Nick Zajaczkowski’s clutch 2 out, 2 RBI triple was key to the
victory. Zach Byler has 2 hits and an
RBI as well.

Sunday,
June 14
– The Cleats offensive finally showed up, and Mike Callaway pitched a complete game,
as Cleats defeated the Hickory Hornets by a score of 12 to 2. Callaway pitched around 7 walks while giving
up only 4 hits. The offense was
highlighted by Manager matt Vadas, who went 2 for 3 with 5 RBI, while 3 of them
coming off a 2nd inning homerun.
Mike Swoboda and Aaron Byler each had 2 hits, while Andrew Beach had 2
RBI and Ryan Karson had a RBI double.

– Mike Prachick pitched a complete game, but the offense could not provide any
run support as Cleats was defeated by a score of 3 to 1 to the Champion
Marlins. The only offensive highlights
were a Mike Swoboda double and a 2 out RBI single by manager Matt Vadas,
accounting for the teams only run.

Friday,
June 5
– Cleats got their 2nd win of the season by defeating the Leon’s
Brewers by a score of 3 to 0. Mike
Swoboda pitched a complete game shutout and picked up a 2 RBI single to seal
the victory for Cleats. A classic pitcher’s
duel into the 5th inning, Cleats was able to open their initial lead when
Swoboda drove in the 2nd and 3rd run. In his pitching effort, Swoboda game up hits
to the first two Brewers hitters, then proceeded to keep them hitless for the
remainder of the game.

Thursday,
June 4
– Cleats fell again in a 1 run ball game, losing 6 to 5 to the Champion
Marlins. Cleats finds itself only
scoring once in the last 20 innings, but was able to have a 5 run inning to
take a 1 run lead in the 4th inning.
Unfortunately, that lead did not hold up as Championed rallied in the
bottom of the 6th with 2 runs.
Mike Callaway was in line for the win before handing the ball over to
Mike Swoboda, who picked up the hard luck loss.
TJ Trevis finally broke out of his slump by getting 2 base hits.

– Cleats fell to P I & I 8 to 0 Tuesday night at Packard Park. For what seems like the 3rd game in
a row, the offense failed to produce.
Andrew Beachy was forced to spot start for the first time in 3 years and
picked up the loss. Beachy also provided
2 hits including a double.

hampered by poor run support. He pitched
the complete game, not letting up a run after the 2nd inning. Swoboda also had 2 base hits and a stolen

– Another game, another 1 run game. This
time, Dominic Buffone was let down by the Cleats offense who only managed 4 hits,
and 0 runs. Buffone pitched 5 innings,
striking out 3, walking 4, while scattering 4 hits. Cleats’ offense only managed 4 hits which
included doubles by Cliff Panezich and Mike Swoboda. Panezich lead off the 7th with
that double, and advanced to 3rd on a stolen base, but the next 3
hitters were unable to drive him in.

May 29 –
Cleats again played in its consecutive one run ball game, but this time falling
just short by a score of 4 to 5 to the Knights.
Josh Lawrence was the tough luck lost, as the deciding run was unearned. Cliff Panezich highlighted the offense by
going 2 for 4, with a double and 3 RBI’s.
Nick Lawrence, returning to the team after a 3 year absence, went 2 for
3 with a double, RBU, and pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless ball.

Tuesday,
May 26
– For the first time in team history, Cleats were able to win on opening
night. After opening up a seemingly
comfortable 9-1 lead in the 6th inning, The Leon’s Brewers fought
back ultimately falling a run short.
Mike Swoboda (1-0) earned the win and “save” in 5.1 innings of
work. He started and pitched the first 5
innings, and retook the mound with 2 outs in the 7th to close the
game out. Dominic Buffone went 3 for 3
with an RBI, Anthony Maruca and TJ Trevis each had 2 hits, and Nick
Zajaczkowski and Swoboda each had 2 RBI’s.

Monday,
May 18 – Thank you to everyone who helped and participated in our
first annual golf outing. It was a great
success! Congratulations to former Metro
Ice player Dom Angelo, Kevin Perry, Brian Van Horn, and Josh Buckner who won
the event with a -14 under par! Also,
congratulations to Dawn Gallagher who won the closest to the pin contest, and
won a brand new golf bag provided by Golf Headquarters. Thank you to all of our hole sponsors
